pm--6 Anasazi Trail for the 3rd time this week. This trail is bringing perspective and helping to remind me of the days past when I really fell in love w/ running. On another note, I got a new watch that has a percieved effort component that, consequently, affects a recovery component. And after most of my runs, the watch says I need 50 hours of recovery. Not sure if it's the fact that I'm working back to fitness, that I'm not sure what is a hard or easy effort, or that my max heart rate might be higher than the age-graded heart rate, but I don't believe the recovery time or the effort feedback. I'm sure it's a combo of all 3. I'll keep tabs on this stuff going forward.

Funny enough, my heart rate was 95-115 for the first 3 miles when I was huffing and puffing and having a tough time and then straight to the 180s when I was feeling light and smooth. My heart always gets going when I run, but the feedback was weird today. I also finished Animal Farm by George Orwell and Joseph Smith: the man and the seer by Hyrum L. Andrus. The first reminds me a lot of the political rhetoric of today. The second provides a portrait of an interesting historical figure, using primary sources.

I finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. It was a quick and quirky read. The narrator must be on the spectrum. The chapters are all prime numbers, and he calms himself by going through cubed numbers. His family life is heartbreaking.

One loop is about .13 miles, so it's about 7 or 8 loops before I switch directions. I run some striders for the last mile. The other 2 miles come are the to and from the field. It's the practice field at the middle school. The grass is nice and short, and the sprinklers are usually on. Good for summer running.
