am--10.25 A big improvised loop through Green Springs and Washington w/ 5x 1-min. pickups. The run felt pretty good. I'm not sure if it's the duration of exposure to the sun or the compounding effects of the heat that make runs like this a little tougher. We had a bigger pack today because most everybody is back. After, my heel junk has been pretty tight. I'm trying to be vigilant and not seeing much improvement, but I'll wake up in the morning, and it will feel runnable. Repeat struggles and suffering. RHR--54.

I also finished another book--Peak Performance by Brad Stulberg and Steve Magness. I enjoyed the book and found that it is a good synthesis of other books I have read over the last year or so--Start With Why, Give and Take, Running Within, The Talent Code, Ego is the Enemy, and Mindset. This is a book for anyone interested in performance, athletic or otherwise. The authors have made it a user-friendly tool for frequent reference. And it was a quick read.

I'm not reading Peak Performance from cover to cover. Just picking it up every day and reading sections. I really like it but since I've been reading Brad and Steve's stuff for years as well as the books you mentioned, it's reinforcing rather than adding to what I know.

Rob,

That's a great way to read the book. I've seen quite a few coaches ordering team sets, but kids would probably respond well to chunks. Periodization in knowledge as well as training. By the way, I discovered Brad through your twitter account. Thanks.👏

Brad is pretty high up on my "people I'd like to meet someday" list.

Don't know how you feel about this but there are some people whose thinking I admire like Brad and Steve and Ryan Holiday, but since I'm 52 years old, married with kids, I can't fully commit to them until they've been around the block a few times and dealt with what's really important in life. Know what I mean?

I totally know what you mean. After reading Holiday's books, I thought to myself, "I'm almost twice this guy's age and am just starting to gain some understanding about life." So what makes them the experts? Truthfully, they read a ton and put those ideas together in books with buzzy titles. Not new ideas but good ideas. That being said, I often find myself discovering new authors and books through these guys.

The real question is, when are you going to write a book? I'd buy it. You must have some stories to tell.
