am-pm--31 Well, I finished my first ultra, and rather than give all the excuses and explanations, I thought it could be nicely summed up in a top-10 list:

10. There's no such thing as an "easy" first ultra.

9. The shape of the body is no indicator of the size of the heart.

8. If you expect anything other than the time of your life in a trail ultra, stick to road racing.

7. You can make it home on a donut if you watch your speed.

6. Laying down on Mother Nature's dusty bosom might just save you from unconsciousness.

5. 4.8 is really 4.8 squared.

4. You might be dehydrated if the white granules encrusting your whole body are the best thing you've ever tasted.

3. 80 degrees is hot in March.

2. Edward Abbey is not the only one that will drag his body across the desert when a finisher's medal, shaped like a coyote's paw, is on the line.

1. Salty Ruffles are really good.

Twas not the race I expected but the one I needed. Twas an experience.

Good job! Sounds like you had a day and a half.

Sounds like an... Experience?!

I am excited to hear all about it - and am pretty jealous of you running it!

Thanks for the props. It was quite the day-and-a-half experience. If there are more ultras in my future, I guess I can chalk it up as time on my feet. I actually did have a lot of fun.

I need to hear about this! Sounds like quite the experience. Congrats!!!!
